Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 crossed the Rs 800 crore mark at the worldwide box office recently, adding a big achievement to its theatrical run. However, the action entertainer saw a sharp slowdown a day later, with its third Monday collections dropping considerably. On Day 19, the film recorded a nearly 70 percent decline in domestic earnings compared to Sunday. Despite the dip, the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial continues to maintain an impressive number, with its India nett collection nearing Rs 460 crore. Meanwhile, distributor Tiruppur Subramaniam has shared his prediction about the film's eventual worldwide box office total.
Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 witnessed a fall in its box office earnings on its third Monday, just a day after achieving the Rs 800 crore worldwide milestone. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 3.41 crore nett in India on Day 19 (Monday), with screenings across 6,893 shows. This marked a decline of approximately 69.55 percent compared to its Sunday collection of Rs 11.20 crore. The Tamil version contributed Rs 1.94 crore from 3,092 shows, while the Hindi version collected Rs 53 lakh from 3,088 shows. The Telugu version added another Rs 41 lakh from 713 shows.
Jailer 2 is the second highest grossing Indian film
With Monday's earnings, the film's total India nett collection has reached Rs 459.71 crore. The third Monday slowdown comes after the action entertainer enjoyed a strong third weekend, taking its worldwide gross past Rs 800 crore on Sunday. Despite the latest dip, the film has maintained an impressive theatrical run since its October 15 release.
Distributor Predicts Rs 1,000 Crore Worldwide Finish For Jailer 2
Meanwhile, distributor Tiruppur Subramaniam believes Jailer 2 could eventually reach Rs 1,000 crore in worldwide collections. Speaking about the film's commercial performance, he credited its combination of comedy and action for winning over audiences.
As reported by The Indian Express, the distributor said, "I believe the movie will achieve Rs 1000 Crore. Look at all of Rajinikanth's superhit films: Annamalai, Padayappa, Sivaji, Chandramukhi. All of them have comedy. Nelson understood this and made a comedy-action film."
He also praised Nelson Dilipkumar for making effective use of comedian Namo Narayanan, saying that family audiences have played an important role in the film's success.
In Jailer 2, Rajinikanth reprises his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, who takes on an international idol-smuggling nettwork while working to protect his family. The film also features SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Ramya Krishnan, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Yogi Babu, among others. Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff and Vijay Sethupathi appear in special roles.
