Indira Krishna says Ramayana shut down trolls who doubted Ranbir Kapoor after his role in Animal. The actress, who plays Mata Kaushalya, said people finally saw what he could do as Lord Rama. She noted, "I think the trolls were put to shut up when Ramayana came out."
After Animal, Indira Krishna reunited with Ranbir Kapoor in Ramayana: Part 1. The actress joined the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film as Mata Kaushalya. The mythological epic features Ranbir as Lord Rama, while Indira is seen as his mother. After Ramayana hit theatres, Zoom exclusively interacted with the actress. Speaking to us, the actress spoke about her co-star's performance. She futher reflected on his transition from Animal's Ranvijay to Ramayana's Rama. Indira stated that she can't seen any actor than Ranbir as Rama. Having said that, she feels Ramayana shut down trolls after release as people finally saw what the actor could do as the divine character.
In an exclusive chat, Indira said, "I never doubted he could never play Ram. A lot of people questioned that this guy has played (Ranvijay in) Animal. I think Saurabh Sachdeva and myself are the only ones who have interacted with him so much from Animal to Ramayana. I have shared a very good personal rapport with Ranbir."
The actress stated that she knows the kind of person Ranbir is. According to her, the actor doesn't come across an introvert. "He would love to talk. He would love to understand people. He would love to understand a role. And here he got Ram as a character. I loved the statement which he said, 'Playing Ram was not a role for me, but it was a whole big responsibility towards the country and such a big epic'."
As the conversation continued, Indira recalled how Ranbir was trolled online for his casting as Lord Rama. "I remember even recently that he was trolled so badly that anybody else would definitely say, 'Look boss...' But I think the trolls were put to shut up when Ramayana came out and people saw what Ranbir could do as Rama. I can't see any other actor than Ranbir as Rama in this."
"In Animal, when I used to observe him, he used to be... thoda outgoing tha, thoda vivacious tha. Cut to the same Ranbir I see on the Ramayana sets where, if you see his eyes and lips and his muscle structure on the face, and if you compare that to Animal, you will know what is the depth of acting this man has put in," she told Zoom.
According to her, it's not easy for an actor to keep a slight smile and talk big dialogues. "So that's what he's maintained as Rama, where he's kept that twinkle in the eye as Rama."
