Filmmaker Priyadarshan said that the movie Hera Pheri 3 will never get made. He shared that there are too many complications surrounding the project. "That has a lot of other complications, too many complications," he said. The director prefers not to touch iconic films unless he has better stories.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan had two major film releases in 2026. Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, did a decent box office business. However, his recently released movie, Haiwaan, failed to work wonders at the ticket window. That said, a sequel to his 2006 film Bhagam Bhag was announced. However, Priyadarshan isn't going to direct it. In an interview, the filmmaker revealed that he doesn't prefer touching an iconic project without having anything new or better to tell. Apart from discussing why he doesn't make sequels, the director stated that Akshay, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal's Hera Pheri 3 will never get made.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan shared there are too many complications in Hera Pheri 3. "That has a lot of other complications, too many complications. I’d need chapters and chapters to talk about it," he said. The veteran director was further asked if the third installment will ever fructify. "I don't think it will ever get made."

Revealing why he never makes sequels, Priyadarshan stated that part two should be better than one, the way Teriminator two was better than one. In his opinion, one shouldn't touch an iconic movie unless they have a better story. He feels there's no value for franchise if one doesn't better compared to the first installment.

"What happens with sequels is that they are selling the value of the first film. They are not making a film, they are making a project, and I am not interested in projects. Even with Bhagam Bhaag, Akshay asked me ‘are you interested in directing?’ I said no," said Priyadarshan.

He further questioned why do makers wants to go and spoil the appreciation of first installment by doing a second part. "That's why I refuse directing sequels. Let other people make sequels of my films, I am fine with that."

Meanwhile, Akshay and Saif Ali Khan-starrer Haiwaan opened to mixed feedback from critics and audiences. Co-starring Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher, the crime thriller turned out to be a box office disaster. According to Sacnilk, Haiwaan earned only Rs 9.92 crore in India, while it made Rs 15.08 crore globally.
