The TV series Ramayan, which featured Arun Govil as Lord Rama and Dipika Chikhlia as Sita in the late 1980s, created a long-lasting memory of the epic saga in audiences' minds. With the release of Ramayana Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, a whole new generation will grow up, with actors Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Veteran actress Chikhlia, in a recent interaction, was asked about the changes in the newer version, especially of Sita fighting demons alongside Lord Rama. She shared that every filmmaker will try to adapt a different Ramayana, as over 300 exist in India.

In an interview with The Free Press Journal, Dipika Chikhlia shared that while she was yet to watch Ramayana Part 1, she had seen a few scenes on Instagram, including those involving Sita in some action sequences. Sai Pallavi's action sequences have received some backlash online.
However, Chikhlia told the portal, "The memory that I have of Valmiki's Ramayana and Tulsidas' Ramayana, which was majorly a part of our Ramayan, I don't remember that anywhere we had those kinds of scenes. But there are more than 300 Ramayanas in our country. Every story, every Ramayana is a little different from the other one. So they (makers) may have picked up something from some Ramayana, which I'm not aware of."
The veteran actress was also ecstatic that actor Salman Khan called out the TV version of Ramayan at the trailer launch of his film Maatrubhumi - May War Rest In Peace on November 6 and shared that he had memories of watching it growing up. Chikhlia said that she would like to personally thank Salman for watching the TV show and mentioning it even now.
