Amitabh Bachchan's health has become a big topic of concern for his fans ever since he took a break from work to rest. On the occasion of Diwali 2026, the Shehenshah of Bollywood shared an update about his health in a concerning note. Big B revealed that he has been experiencing discomfort in writing letters. While expressing gratitude to fans for showering love and blessings on him on Diwali, Amitabh apologised to them for not being able to write letters to them on this festive occasion. For the unversed, the 84-year-old actor took a break from the Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 and Kalki 2898 AD sequel shoot. Big B shared painful details about his health on his Tumblr account.
Amitabh Bachchan's Latest Health Update
In a special note for Diwali, Amitabh Bachchan mentioned that he has been receiving a lot of greetings and gifts from his well-wishers. Now, he is running out of space to keep them. He conveyed his appreciation and acknowledgement to the ones who sent him love and gifts on Diwali. He wanted to write letters to his well-wishers but couldn't do it due to discomfort in his hand.
Amitabh Bachchan stated, "Not storing these gifts properly would amount to disrespecting them. Therefore, to all of you who have been sending gifts as expressions of your affection, I wish to convey my appreciation and acknowledgement. I am also making an effort to respond to each of you personally through letters. I really wanted to write these replies myself. However, I have been experiencing some discomfort in the hand for writing, which has caused delay. I sincerely apologise (folded hands emoji)."
He feels that one should ask for forgiveness in such circumstances. He doesn't feel wrong in it. Big B added, "The other person may refuse, reject the apology, or understand and accept it. If they understand and accept the apology, my heart will be filled with happiness. If they do not, their mind will remain troubled."
For the unversed, Amitabh Bachchan is advised to take complete rest due to his ill health. The KBC makers are also running old episodes due to his absence. He is likely to resume shooting for the show next week. However, there is no official confirmation about the same.
Earlier, while wishing fans on Dussehra, the actor shared his health update in his X post. He wrote, "First Dussehra greetings to all .. love happiness, fulfilment, prayers. Under very strict rest and recuperation .. so am not allowed to communicate .. do excuse .. my apologies. But do take this as my respected response .. more hopefully later." (sic)

Amitabh Bachchan will next be seen in Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD sequel, which is expected to release in 2027. The production of the film has already started. The film also features Prabhas and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles.
