Tata Motors and Stellantis NV signed a deal to expand their partnership for global vehicle development. This agreement builds on an MoU from February 2026. They will use Tata’s platform architecture to build cars at the Ranjangaon plant. This move aims to make India a key hub for global exports.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) and its electric vehicle subsidiary, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEM), officially announced signing a deal with Stellantis NV to expand their existing partnership to include vehicle technology and product development for global markets.

Stellantis NV is a multinational automotive manufacturing corporation that owns the automotive brand Fiat.

The latest agreement builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in February 2026, to cover advanced technology and product collaboration.

Under the latest deal, TMPV will provide Stellantis NV with access to its product technology and platform architecture, which Stellantis NV will leverage to develop products and capabilities for diverse global markets.

Vehicles developed under the agreement will be manufactured in India at Fiat India Automobiles Private Limited (FIAPL) in Ranjangaon, near Pune, as a 50:50 joint venture between TMPV and Stellantis NV.

The partnership is expected to utilise Tata Motors' engineering and manufacturing scale in India, combined with Stellantis NV's presence in multiple global markets, to expand export opportunities and establish India as a key hub in its global manufacturing network.

Vehicles developed under the arrangement must meet the requirements of different markets, including their regulatory standards, operating conditions and customer preferences.

However, the companies have not disclosed the models covered by the agreement, their launch timelines or financial details of the arrangement.

The collaboration is expected to leverage India's engineering workforce and manufacturing capacity to support vehicle development for overseas markets.
