Synopsis

This funding will bolster its cold-chain infrastructure while improving its technological capabilities.

Solgram, a grocery platform built around temperature-controlled cold supply chain, has raised over $1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital, with participation from serial hospitality entrepreneur Kapil Chopra. The round closed within a quarter of the company's launch in Gurugram.

The capital will be used to expand Solgram's cold-chain infrastructure, strengthen its technology stack, deepen sourcing relationships and scale operations across the National Capital Region (NCR) followed by other key markets in the coming months.

Shashank Shekhar Sharma, Founder, Solgram, said in a statement, “In fresh grocery, quality is often won or lost long before the order reaches the customer. You can source an exceptional product, but if temperature, handling or fulfilment break down anywhere along the journey, the customer never experiences that quality. As consumers increasingly turn to digital platforms for their grocery needs, the opportunity is to look beyond convenience and build an experience that places equal emphasis on quality, curation and trust. At Solgram, that means rethinking how fresh, premium and temperature-sensitive products move from sourcing and storage through fulfilment and the last mile. We are bringing together the infrastructure, technology and operating discipline needed to serve a more considered grocery basket, with the ambition of setting a new benchmark for premium grocery retail in India.”

Deepak Shahdadpuri, Managing Director, DSG Consumer Partners, said in a statement, “Quick commerce has fundamentally changed how urban India shops for groceries, but the premium, considered basket remains underserved. Solgram is building for that occasion from first principles with cold chain to the doorstep, a curated fresh and health-first assortment, and a model designed around quality rather than speed alone. Shashank brings a rare combination of hospitality, food retail, quick commerce and premium grocery experience, which gives us strong conviction in his ability to build this category thoughtfully. We are delighted to partner with him and the Solgram team as they build the business one cluster at a time.”

Ash Lilani, Founder and Managing Partner, Saama Capital, said in a statement, "Indian consumers have already shown a strong appetite for convenience and premiumization. The next opportunity lies in building deeper trust in categories where quality and consistency matter. Solgram's differentiated cold-chain operating model, combined with its disciplined, cluster-led approach to expansion, gives it a clear proposition in an increasingly competitive grocery market."
