JSW Energy added 813 MW of capacity in the September quarter, including 513 MW of renewable energy capacity through organic additions. In the first half of FY27, total capacity additions stood at 1,686 MW, of which 1,386 MW came from renewable energy projects added organically.

The company also acquired the 300 MW Maruti Thermal Power Plant at an enterprise value of ₹1,410 crore. The plant has a long-term power purchase agreement covering 195 MW of net capacity with Rajasthan's distribution companies, with 14 years remaining. It also has 64 MW of net merchant capacity.

Separately, JSW Energy completed turbine-generator orders for the entire 3.2 GW Salboni Thermal Project in West Bengal. The project comprises four units of 800 MW each.

The company also received National Company Law Tribunal approval for its Scheme of Arrangement with GE Power India Limited, following shareholder and creditor approvals.

JSW Energy said it had strong visibility on expanding its commercial and industrial (C&I) business to 8.6 GW. A further 2 GW of group captive opportunities were under advanced discussions, alongside another 0.9 GW of third-party C&I opportunities.

Power demand rises 11% in Q2

All-India power demand rose 11.1% year-on-year to 499 billion units (BUs) in the September quarter, driven by persistent heat, below-normal rainfall, high humidity and increased irrigation demand, the company said.

Power demand in September 2026 increased 11.3% year-on-year to 162 BUs.

Peak power demand reached 270 GW during the quarter. September's peak demand stood at 269 GW, just below the all-time high of 271 GW recorded in May 2026.

JSW Hydro revenue and EBITDA decline

JSW Hydro's revenue and EBITDA each fell 15% year-on-year to ₹332 crore and ₹319 crore, respectively, due to weaker hydrological conditions that affected power generation and sales volumes.

The company described the impact as temporary and said capacity charges remained secure.

JSW Energy shares closed 2.84% higher at ₹483 on October 28, gaining ₹13.35 during the session.
