Marijuana use surpasses cigarette smoking in US, study finds

A new federal study found that marijuana use in the United States surpassed cigarette smoking in 2025. Nearly 44 million Americans used marijuana, while 36 million smoked cigarettes. While marijuana use got popular among young adults, alcohol remained the most used substance. Many people still prefer drinking over these other habits.
