Sunrise Movement co-founder defeats establishment-backed Dems in pivotal Michigan race

William Lawrence defeated former U.S. ambassador Bridget Brink and former Navy SEAL Matt Maasdam on Tuesday night to win the Democratic nomination for Michigan's 7th Congressional District. Lawrence, a Sunrise Movement co-founder, now faces Republican Rep. Tom Barrett this November. His victory marks a major win for the party's progressive wing.
