Immigrant Held at Delaney Detention Center Has Died, Officials Say

A Salvadoran immigrant named Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo died over the weekend at the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark. Mayor Ras Baraka said, “In less than a year, yet another family is forced to endure the unimaginable loss.” Federal officials confirmed the death, which follows another passing last December.
