Trump-backed candidate lands GOP nod, setting up high-stakes governor showdown

Republican Rep. John James won the Michigan GOP gubernatorial nomination on Tuesday after getting an endorsement from Donald Trump. James topped businessman Perry Johnson to secure the spot. He will now face Democrat Jocelyn Benson in the race to succeed Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. James said, "nobody outworks a ranger."
