Dems rally around best hope to defend governor's mansion from GOP takeover

Democrats picked Cindy Holscher to run for Kansas governor in the Nov. 3 election. She will face Republican Ty Masterson to succeed term-limited Gov. Laura Kelly. The party hopes to keep the mansion despite the state’s strong red lean. Many voters also decided on a plan to elect Supreme Court justices.
