A two-year-old battery startup just hit $13bn by turning American homes into grid capacity.

Base Power, a two-year-old startup, hit a $13bn valuation after raising $1bn in a Series D round. The Austin company makes home batteries to help the grid handle rising power demand. Chief executive Zach Dell said the battery "installs in under an hour and rides out extreme weather" for users.
