Scientists use AI to create viruses that don’t exist in nature for the first time

Scientists in the US used artificial intelligence to create viruses that do not exist in nature. Researchers at Stanford University used a model called Evo to design viral genomes that successfully killed E. coli bacteria. Brian Hie said, “This is a next step in the complexity that's designable by generative AI.”
