Vande Mataram to be played at Red Fort on Independence day, days after Parliament shields it in Bill

Vande Mataram will be played at the Red Fort on August 15 for the first time during the formal Independence Day programme. A defence ministry official said it will feature right before the national anthem. This follows the recent Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, protecting it.
