Police modernisation scheme awaits Finance Ministry’s nod, Centre tells SC

The Union government told the Supreme Court on August 5, 2026, that a police modernisation scheme proposal reached the Finance Ministry on July 8, 2026. The Centre said, “The proposal is under consideration.” This plan aims to improve police infrastructure and install CCTV cameras across the country by March 2027.
