Kerala floods expose waste mgmt gaps as plastic, debris resurface

Recent floods in Kerala brought tonnes of plastic and debris into water bodies, exposing gaps in waste management. Officials said, “Nearly 40% of the waste leaks out of the system.” The local government started clean-up operations to handle the 7,500 to 10,000 tonnes of waste that resurfaced after the rains.
