More than 1,500 ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz could trigger a major ecological disaster. Researchers said, "Ships in the Gulf region had remained idle there for at least 40 times longer than an average stay." These stagnant vessels now host invasive species that threaten marine life worldwide.
