President Trump said on Monday that he is looking at firing Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece. She allegedly asked a donor to pay her credit card bill for access to officials. "We're not happy," Mr. Trump said. The donor claimed she wanted money before her July 2025 hearing.
President Trump made the remark in response to a question about the U.S. ambassador to Greece, who faces accusations that she asked a G.O.P. donor to pay off her credit card.
President Trump said on Monday that he was "looking at" firing Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, following revelations that she had asked a Republican donor to pay her credit card bill in exchange for access to senior Trump administration officials.
"Well, we're looking at it, yeah," Mr. Trump said when asked by a reporter whether he was thinking of firing Ms. Guilfoyle. "We're not happy."
The donor, Eric Deters, said last week that Ms. Guilfoyle had asked him to wire $100,000 to pay off her American Express card just before her Senate confirmation hearing in July 2025. She promised to serve as his "ride or die in Trump world" if he did, according to what appeared to be screenshots of their correspondence that Mr. Deters provided to The New York Times.
