Kazakhstan's president appoints top adviser as vice president
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Monday appointed Erlan Karin as vice president. This new office was created under a constitution adopted earlier this year. Karin, a longtime adviser, is now first in line to succeed Tokayev. Parliament also approved the reappointment of Olzhas Bektenov as the country's prime minister today.
