India's biggest chip bet yet: What Rs 1.27 lakh crore Semicon 2.0 means
The Union Cabinet approved Semicon 2.0 with a budget of Rs 1,27,500 crore to boost India’s chipmaking sector. This phase builds on Semicon 1.0, which started in December 2021. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Semicon 2.0 will attract greater investment, create high-value opportunities for our youth, strengthen supply chains and advance technological self-reliance."
