Govt to use AI system to identify road defects from phone videos

The Government of India started testing an AI system to identify potholes and cracks on rural roads from mobile videos. This nationwide exercise began on September 1 under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Officials said the technology helps identify seven types of road defects to support better maintenance decisions.
