Fireflies brings AI voice dictation to email, Slack, documents and prompts across the workday

Fireflies.ai has introduced a voice dictation feature called Fireflies Talk that allows users to speak instead of type across several applications. This new feature supports more than 100 languages, including several Indian languages, and is available on Mac and Windows. Fireflies Talk integrates into existing workflows and offers unlimited dictation for all users at no additional cost.

AI meeting assistant Fireflies.ai on Wednesday announced that it has launched a new voice dictation feature that lets users speak instead of type across apps including email, Slack, documents, AI prompts and CRM tools.

Called Fireflies Talk, the feature is available on Mac and Windows and marks the company's move beyond meeting transcription and note-taking towards becoming a broader AI interface for the workday.

According to the company, talk offers unlimited voice dictation across all Fireflies plans, including the free tier, at no additional cost. It supports more than 100 languages, including over 10 Indian languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Bengali, Marathi, Punjabi and Sindhi.

The feature is said to automatically clean up and punctuate spoken text, allowing users to dictate naturally without having to say punctuation or follow specific voice commands.

In Slack, for instance, users can say the name of a teammate or group and Talk can automatically convert it into the relevant @mention.

"There's so many times when it's easier to say what you mean than stop and type it out," Fireflies CEO and co-founder Krish Ramineni said. "Now our users can do that inside Fireflies for free without adding another subscription."

Fireflies said Talk is designed to work within users' existing workflows rather than requiring them to move to a separate application. The company currently offers meeting transcription and summaries, along with tools for managing follow-up work.

The company is also positioning Talk as the first step towards a broader voice interface for its AI Teammate. Future capabilities under development include using voice to retrieve information, interact with information displayed on a user's screen and eventually take actions on a user's behalf.

Privacy is also a focus of the feature. Completed dictations are stored locally on the user's device and cannot be viewed by Fireflies or a workspace administrator. Audio is securely sent to Fireflies' speech-to-text provider for processing, while the company said it does not store the resulting dictations on its servers or use them to train AI models.

Talk is currently available through the Fireflies desktop app for Mac and Windows. An iOS version is coming soon, followed by Android.
