Apple plans a second event on or around October 27 to unveil its first touchscreen MacBook and a new iPad mini. The company also expects to show updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac models with M6 chips. These devices target creative professionals who use Apple products for video and music.

Apple is gearing up for its October 13 event, and rumours suggest that smart home products will be the focus. But that may not be all the company has planned for this month. The Cupertino giant is reportedly preparing another launch event towards the end of this month, with Macs and iPads expected to take centre stage.

The company could unveil its first touchscreen MacBook alongside a new iPad mini, according to a Bloomberg report. The event is expected to take place on or around October 27, about two weeks after Apple's planned presentation on its smart home products.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the late-October launch could also bring updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac models powered by Apple's upcoming M6 chips. The event is expected to feature an online video presentation alongside an in-person session for the press. Apple is reportedly targeting creative professionals working in areas such as video production, photo editing and music production.

Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook

According to the report, the late-October event could see the launch of Apple’s long-awaited touchscreen MacBook Pro. The upcoming models, reportedly codenamed K114 and K116, are expected to feature OLED displays and a lighter design than current versions. They could also introduce the Dynamic Island interface, which is already familiar to iPhone users.

Alongside these models, Apple is reportedly preparing updated MacBook Pro and iMac models, codenamed J804 and J833, respectively. These devices are expected to retain their current designs while switching to the M6 chip.

New iPad mini may get an OLED display

The new iPad mini, reportedly codenamed J510, is also expected to receive a significant upgrade. According to Bloomberg, the tablet could feature an OLED display, a front camera repositioned for landscape video calls and a revamped speaker system. Apple last refreshed the iPad mini in 2024.

Apple also hosting October 13 event

The reported Mac and iPad launch is part of what could be a busy month for Apple. Before that, the company is expected to showcase its smart home strategy on October 13. The presentation could include its first smart home hub with a display, a new HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV, with Siri expected to play a central role.

The product launches also come as Apple enters a new phase under CEO John Ternus, who took charge last month. The company is also reportedly preparing an extensive lineup of new products, with more Macs and iPads expected in the first half of next year.
