The Pakistan Super League 12th season will run from March 18 to May 2, 2027. The PCB confirmed the dates after a meeting in London. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said, “HBL PSL 12 will raise the bar further.” Eight teams will compete in the tournament, which faces a schedule clash.

The 12th season of the Pakistan Super League will begin on March 18, 2027, the PCB confirmed on Thursday (October 8). The tournament, which expanded to eight teams for the first time this year, will continue in its current form. The final is scheduled to be held on May 2.

The window, finalised following consultations with the teams and other stakeholders at the PSL Governing Council meeting in London on September 1, will see a schedule clash with the Indian Premier League once again. While the itinerary for IPL 2027 is yet to be confirmed, indications are that it is set for a mid-March start date for its 20th season.

The schedule clash could bring its own challenges. Last year, a handful of players pulled out of their PSL contracts to be signed as replacement players in the IPL. Among them was Spencer Johnson, who had been announced as a direct signing by Quetta Gladiators. Johnson then pulled out of the PSL citing personal reasons before signing with Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Nathan Ellis.

Dasun Shanaka, signed by Lahore Qalandars, joined Rajasthan Royals as a replacement, while Blessing Muzarabani pulled out of his contract with Islamabad United to join Kolkata Knight Riders. Muzarabani was subsequently handed a two-year ban from the PSL.

Meanwhile, the 2026 season also marked a significant change for the PSL, with the player draft replaced by an auction for the first time. The final at Gaddafi Stadium drew a record crowd of 32,461, as Peshawar Zalmi ended a nine-year wait for the title by beating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen.

With the window for the 2027 season now locked, a series of key milestones will follow, including direct signings, retentions, the trade window and the player auction.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the league would look to build on the success of the previous season. “HBL PSL 11 showed the world what this league is capable of - thrilling moments that had the whole nation transfixed, record crowds, record broadcasts.

"HBL PSL 12 will raise the bar further. We are committed to delivering another outstanding season and look forward to seeing all eight franchises compete once again for the title,” Naqvi said.
