Mumbai Indians traded USA fast-bowler Tara Norris from UP Warriorz for the WPL 2027 season. Norris joins MI for INR 10 lakh in an all-cash deal. This move helps MI fill their overseas quota before the auction in Kochi on October 28. She previously played for Delhi Capitals in 2023.
Mumbai Indians have traded USA fast-bowler Tara Norris in from UP Warriorz ahead of the WPL 2027 player auction. Norris, who was signed by the Warriorz for a sum of INR 10 lakh ahead of the 2026 season, joins MI for the same fee in an all-cash deal.
Norris is no stranger to the WPL, having represented Delhi Capitals in the inaugural edition in 2023. She created history as the first Associate player to feature in the league and also became the first bowler to pick up a five-fer in the competition, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2023.
Each of Norris’ five WPL appearances came in the 2023 season, where she picked up 7 wickets at 26 apiece at an economy rate of 4.33. She was then released by the Capitals ahead of the 2024 season before earning her second gig with UPW for WPL 2026, although she had to miss the tournament after being called up to the USA squad for the T20 World Cup Qualifiers.
This marks Norris' second association with an MI franchise, having represented MI London in The Hundred earlier this year. Norris was retained by the Warriorz at the September 28 deadline, after which the trade went through.
As a result of the trade, MI have filled their overseas quota ahead of the auction in Kochi on October 28. They will now head into the auction with INR 90 lakh to spend and a maximum of six slots to fill. The Warriorz, meanwhile, now have INR 3.75 crore to spend on a maximum of eight players, three of whom can be allotted for overseas signings.
