Martin O’Neill will remain Celtic manager after a period of reflection. The 74-year-old said, "I want to lead the club. I want to try and win the league." He got back to work after a tough week of losses. Celtic still holds a two-point lead in the Scottish Premiership today.

Veteran manager Martin O'Neill confirmed that he will stay on after a period of "reflection" following a poor run of form by the club.

The 74-year-old had said he would consider his position at the club following defeats to local rival Rangers either side of a 3-1 loss to Ferencvaros in the Europa League.

Celtic also surrendered a four-goal lead to Austrian side LASK to drop out of the Champions League.

"We had a difficult week. It can happen, you can lose to your arch-rivals, you can lose a European game. It's certainly not the end of the world, as it seemed to be described, but (I'm) ready to go," O'Neill told the club's media channel.

"I did think I would take a little bit of time and it didn't take me that much time to think about it.

"I want to lead the club. I want to try and win the league, which is what we set out to do and just as determined now as ever before."

Celtic retains a two-point lead over Rangers after seven games in the Scottish Premiership ahead of its trip to Motherwell this weekend.
