France and Italy played out a 1-1 draw in a UEFA Nations League group stage match on Friday.

Michael Olise put France ahead in the 55th minute with a curling shot from 20 meters which went in off the crossbar.

But poor defending midway through the second half allowed Italy central defender Alessandro Bastoni to run through and clip a low shot inside the right post to secure a 1-1 draw.

France came close to scoring again on multiple occasions, but Gianluigi Donnaruma pulled off an array of incredible saves to deny the side.

Dayot Upamecano was sent off in the 85th minute, bringing a sour end to Zinedine Zidane's first home game in charge.

France leads Group 1 with seven points, followed by Belgium with six, Italy with four and Turkey with zero.
