Sahil Jadhav and Chikitha Taniparthi won gold in archery at the Asian Games 2026 on September 30. They beat South Korea in a shoot-off to secure the top spot and qualified for the LA Olympics 2028. Meanwhile, other Indian athletes faced tough losses in wrestling, cycling, judo, and esports events.

Two gold medals for India in two finals.

Sahil and Taniparthi once again shoots 10s and take the gold medal. And with that THEY QUALIFY FOR THE LA OLYMPICS 2028.

What a nervy ending that was.

Sahil and Taniparthi were in the lead after the first two ends, but they ended up fumbling in the second half against a resurgent Korean mixed team.

The final ended in a draw, and went straight to the shoot-off. Both Indian archers kept their nerve and shot a perfect 10 series, while the Koreans shot one 9 to lose the gold medal match.

It is a tie.

India have drawn Soiuth Korea in the final.

And now the gold medal match goes into a shoot-off.

WRESTLING

Women’s 68kg: Nisha lost her Round of 16 bout against North Korea’s Pak Sol Gum. The match was tied 4-4, but Pak was awarded the win.

Men’s 87kg Greco-Roman: Sunil Kumar lost to Japan’s Talzo Yoshida by technical superiority in the semi-final. The bout was stopped with Sunil trailing 0-11.

Sunil will now fight for the bronze medal against the winner of the repechage bout.

CYCLING

Ronaldo Singh and David Beckham lost their respective Round of 32 bouts.

JUDO

Women’s 48kg: Commonwealth Games gold medallist Asmita Dey lost her quarter-final bout against Kazakhstan’s Abiba Abuzhahynova.

She will compete in the repechage round later in the day.

ESPORTS

League of Legends: India lost to Hong Kong and South Korea in their Group B matches. They will take on Chinese Taipei in their third group game at 10:30am.

CANOE SLALOM

Men’s Kayak semi-final: Pradhyuman Singh and Hitesh Kewat finished 11th and 14th, respectively. Pradhyuman qualified for the final.

Women’s Canoe Single: Jagftap Pallavi and Rina Sen finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Pallavi qualified for the final.

Another medal assured for India in archery.

Taniparthi Chikitha has ensured another medal for India. She and Rajesh Jhadav beat Thailand 156-155 in the semi-finals, and qualify for the final of the event.

They will face the winners of South Korea and China in the final of the event.

Which means that there is a lot of action coming our way.

ARCHERY EVENTS TODAY

The compound mixed team finals will start at 9:15am.

The men's compound team semi-final will start at 11:25am.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikhita Taniprathi and Prathika Pradeep hardly broke a sweat in this battle. They just looked calm, composed and in the zone to secure the gold medal.

China started the final end with a 10, but then just faded away with two 9s. India's response was simple. Three straight 10s, much to the delight of their coach, who was ecstatic.

China finished off with three 10s and India responded in the same fashion. Three perfect 10s and they levelled the world record to win the gold medal.

India finished the match with a scoreline of 238-234 to win.

China started the penultimate end with three 10s, putting the pressure on India. Chikhita felt the heat and scored a nine early, meaning Prithika and Jyothi had to respond. And they did with two 10s to maintain the lead.

The start of the second rotation for China wasn't ideal as they started with a 9. They closed with two 10s, meaning that a good response was needed from India.

Chikhita made up for her earlier 9 with a perfect shot. Prithika looked to be in the zone and scored a 10 and Jyothi wrapped it all up with another one. China got some reprieve as an arrow was recalculated and they got a 10. Score: India lead 178-176.

China started their second end with a nine, but bounced back with two 10s to put some pressure on India. Chikhita hit the first nine for India, but Prithika and Jyothi ensured that the three-point lead remained intact with two 10s.

The Chinese archers hit two 10s in the second half of the end and closed it with a nine. But Chikhita, Prthika and Jyothi responded with three 10s to make sure that India remained in control of the contest and extended their lead to three points.
