Satellite sees Greenland's most significant floating ice loss in over a decade photo of the day for Aug. 24, 2026
New satellite imagery shows Greenland’s Petermann Glacier lost a 29 square mile section of its ice tongue on August 4, 2026. This event marks the most significant floating ice loss since 2012. ESA scientist Martin Wearing said, "Satellite missions provide the systematic, long-term observations needed to track these changes."
