How a powerful blast left the Sun and then mysteriously fell back

A huge solar blast in March 2024 started strong but then mysteriously fell back to the Sun. Scientists are studying this rare event to understand why some solar eruptions escape into space while others collapse. Lead author Tingyu Gou said, "This strong flare should have produced a big eruption."
