US strips citizenship of Indian-origin man 15 years after conviction in rape case

A federal court revoked the US citizenship of India-born Gurmeet Singh, 15 years after his 2011 rape conviction. The Justice Department said Singh hid the crime while applying for citizenship. Assistant Attorney General Brett A. Shumate said, "Singh unlawfully obtained the privileges of US citizenship by concealing horrible criminal acts."
