Tirupati: Five people were killed and 10 others severely injured following a boiler explosion at TIL Healthcare factory in Sri City, Satyavedu mandal limits of Tirupati district.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at Pharma Company in Sri City when a boiler suddenly exploded. The blast caused severe injuries to workers. The injured were shifted to the hospital.
Officials have identified three of the deceased as Gourab Roy (35), Chinna Mastan (36) and Ramesh (40). Another body is yet to be identified. Vasu (36), who was critically injured in the blast, reportedly died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai.
However, the exact number of workers present at the factory at the time of the accident and the cause of the explosion are yet to be ascertained. Officials are collecting details to determine whether the blast was caused by a technical fault in the boiler or any other reason.
Relief and rescue operations are currently underway.
Government will support families of deceased: Lokesh
Minister Nara Lokesh expressed deep shock over the boiler explosion at the private factory in Sri City. Describing the deaths of workers and injuries to several others as a tragic loss, he conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.
He directed officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment. Lokesh assured that the government would extend all possible support to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.
