The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh got extended for the third time. Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav said the final electoral roll will now be published on October 16, 2026. Officials extended the deadline to process pending applications and clear administrative backlogs across the state.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh has been extended for the third time, and the Election Commission of India (ECI) has now scheduled publication of the final electoral roll for October 16, 2026.

Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav, in a press release on Wednesday (September 30, 2026), said that under the revised schedule, the disposal of claims and objections under the notice phase will continue until October 10, following which the final electoral roll will be published on October 16.

The SIR exercise was formally launched in Andhra Pradesh on May 14, following the ECI's announcement of Phase III of the revision, with July 1, 2026, fixed as the qualifying date.

ECI extends SIR in Andhra Pradesh: enumeration till July 24, final roll on October 3

Following the initial house-to-house enumeration conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the draft electoral roll was published on July 31. The draft contained 3,71,38,182 registered voters, and the publication opened the claims and objections process.

The revision schedule has since been extended three times to facilitate the processing of pending applications and objections and to address administrative backlogs across the State.

Under the original schedule, the last date for filing claims and objections was August 30 and the final electoral roll was scheduled to be published on September 22. The first extension moved the deadline for filing claims and objections to September 10 and the publication of the final roll to October 3.

A second revision extended the disposal of claims to October 5 and fixed October 9 for publication of the final roll.

With the latest extension, the disposal of claims and objections has been pushed to October 10, and the final roll is to be published on October 16.

The SIR exercise involves 46,397 BLOs across the State, along with 68,868 Booth Level Agents appointed by political parties. The officials and agents are involved in processing applications and objections filed through Forms 6, 7 and 8.

The revision process also involves scrutiny of cases categorised as "No-Mapping" and "Logical Discrepancy". Such cases require hearings and verification as part of the exercise; the authorities are seeking to ensure that eligible voters are not inadvertently left out of the electoral rolls.

The latest extension is expected to provide additional time for the electoral machinery to complete disposal of claims and objections before the final rolls are published on October 16.
