Pakistan continues to demand a plebiscite for Jammu and Kashmir at the United Nations, citing Security Council Resolution 47 from 21 April 1948. However, these requests often ignore the mandatory troop withdrawal clause. On 26 September 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif again pushed for a vote without mentioning this requirement.
