Punjab: 31 independent councillors join SAD

Thirty-one Independent councillors joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said this bumped up the party's representation. The SAD now has a majority in nine municipal committees. Badal claimed the SAD got the number one position in votes polled in several committees.
