Former minister Madan Mitra joined the rebel TMC camp led by Ritabrata Banerjee on Wednesday. Mamata Banerjee once said, "A colourful boy who sometimes becomes a bit too colourful." This move followed an ED summons regarding a recruitment scam. Mitra, a long-time loyalist, recently won the 2026 Assembly election from Kamarhati.
