Mr. Brittas told the media that he was abandoned by the road side later after the personnel assaulted him inside a police vehicle. Video footage showed CRPF personnel dragging him away while speaking to the media, even as he repeatedly told them that he was a Member of the Parliament.

“Although I told them I am an MP, the CRPF personnel continued to attack me. They pinned me to the seat and tried to choke me. This is the plight of an MP in this country. Whatever Delhi Police does, we will be in this struggle till our last breath,” he said.

This was the second consecutive day on which CPI(M) and Students Federation of India (SFI) protests were being detained by the Delhi Police amid widespread protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over discrepancies in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

Several SFI leaders and activists, including National President Adarsh M. Saji, alleged police brutality. The SFI official social media pages posted visuals of an injured Mr.Saji and other activists inside police vans.

“Murder of democracy and human rights — SFI activists were kicked and beaten up inside mobile prisons. Female comrades were harassed and assaulted by male police officers. They were beaten up, kicked and stomped on. This is a complete violation of human rights. This is systemic terror at its finest,” said a post in the SFI official account in X.
