Incessant rains caused by a deep depression hit Kolkata and nearby areas on August 17, 2026. Waterlogging and traffic snarls disrupted life for many commuters during office hours. Haldia recorded 134 mm of rainfall. The IMD said the depression will move towards Jharkhand by August 18, bringing more heavy rain.
