The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed pleas seeking FIRs against political leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Anurag Thakur for alleged hate speeches during the 2020 Delhi riots. The court also rejected requests for an SIT probe into the 2019 Jamia violence. Many petitioners had sought investigations into alleged police inaction.
The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed bunch of pleas for FIR against political leaders including Sonia Gandhi for alleged hate speeches in relation to 2020 riots in national capital. The pleas also sought SIT probe into 2020 Delhi riots and 2019 Jamia violence. The petitions included pleas by former Rajya Sabha MP Brinda Karat and Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind seeking probes into alleged police inaction and hate speeches. Other petitions sought investigations into the alleged rioters, including an NIA probe into the alleged funding of the riots and allegations against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
