Karkala MLA V. Sunil Kumar on Monday charged the Congress government in Karnataka with becoming anti-people. He said it has become a "60% government" and failed to deliver development after nearly four years. The BJP plans protests across Udupi district this month, alleging that the state administration has completely collapsed.
Karkala MLA V. Sunil Kumar on Monday charged the Congress government in Karnataka with becoming anti-people by failing them even after nearly four years in power. It has become a "60% government" and the BJP will hold protests across Udupi district during this month, he said.
The MLA was addressing a meeting of party cadres protesting the "failure" of the State government, organised by the Karkala unit of the BJP. Despite presenting four Budgets, the government has failed to deliver the expected development, he said.
The government has not issued a single new ration card while cancelling over 6,000 BPL cards in the guise of verification in Udupi district, he alleged. While delaying payment of various social security pensions, it was planning to cancel old-age pensions for over 47,000 people in the district. Beneficiaries were also being harassed under the pretext of revision of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, he said.
Charging the government with not sanctioning even a single house under housing schemes in the district, Mr. Kumar said sarcastically that the government's financial condition had reached the "zero-balance" stage. There are no issues with the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, but there are several problems, including server-related issues, in various State government schemes, he alleged.
Alleging that the government has become bankrupt, the MLA accused the Congress of diverting attention from development by highlighting the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) and Vande Mataram. He challenged the government to dissolve the Assembly and go before the people if it was unable to run the administration.
MP Kota Srinivas Poojary alleged that the administrative system in the State had collapsed. Though the Union government was providing funds for various schemes, including ₹72,000 crore for drinking water projects, the State government was not implementing them properly, he alleged. The law and order situation in the State had deteriorated, he said. Mr. Poojary also alleged that the government had failed to increase the honorarium paid to Yuvanidhi, Anganwadi and ASHA workers.
Other BJP MLAs from the district, Gururaj Gantihole (Byndoor), A. Kiran Kumar Kodgi (Kundapur), Yashpal Suvarna (Udupi) and Gurme Suresh Shetty (Kaup), also spoke.
