The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) unit of Maharashtra has called a protest at Mumbai's iconic Shivaji Park at 4 pm today. The protest call comes a day after the Delhi Police cracked down on the proposed Jantar Mantar demonstration, and detained hundreds of protesters, including Opposition leaders and top CJP leaders like Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.

Ahead of the protest, heavy police forces have been deployed around Shivaji Park. Police are also standing near metro stations and nearby signals, and have detained student leaders' from their houses.

Ratna Singh, who handles legal affairs for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), alleged that Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials had been following her since she landed in Bengaluru. She claimed that police later arrived at her home and detained her, questioning who had issued the orders.

Singh also alleged that right-wing groups were assaulting protesters and accused the government of stopping peaceful demonstrations out of fear.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Saurav Das questioned the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Supreme Court over alleged custodial violence against protesters detained during the demonstrations in Delhi.

Das also alleged that the BJP was mobilising right-wing groups while police were registering cases against protesters.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Ashutosh Ranka on Sunday vowed to continue the party’s fight against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, declaring that the struggle had only just begun amid the police crackdown on protesters in Delhi.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) member Saurav Das alleged that he was detained at RK Puram, while party members Ashutosh Ranka and Abhijeet Dipke were kept at other locations. He claimed that the three were held separately during their detention.

Das also raised concerns that Delhi Police may have accessed their phones and planted evidence. He further suspected that the police had examined the contents of their phones.

CJP member Saurav Das claimed that the end of the government was near, alleging that it had “completely lost it”. He accused the government of acting to protect Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, whom he called the “original anti-national”. Das made the remarks amid the ongoing CJP protests in Delhi.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka accused Delhi Police of showing an “inhuman face” during the detention of Abhijeet Dipke and Saurav Das. Ranka alleged that the two were abducted and said the police acted insensitively when Dipke was informed about his grandmother’s death on Saturday.

He further alleged that Delhi Police tried to turn the incident into a spectacle.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka alleged that Delhi Police kept its camera and microphone on when Abhijeet Dipke was informed about his grandmother’s death. Ranka said all of them were “kidnapped” on Saturday, adding that Dipke had left to attend his grandmother’s last rites.

Ranka said Dipke did not want to make a spectacle of his grandmother’s death. Expressing condolences on behalf of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), he extended the party’s sympathies to Dipke and his family.
