Centre defers Census in Manipur following 'NRC first' demand by civil society groups

The Centre on Monday decided to defer the house-listing phase of the Census 2027 in Manipur. This move followed strong demands from civil society groups to implement the NRC first. A senior official said, "The decision has been taken in view of demands from Meitei and Naga groups in the state."
