The BJP will hold protests on Monday, October 12, 2026, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Pinarayi Vijayan. The party said it is the real Opposition and has been questioning government failures for months. They also raised concerns about the CMRL-Exalogic pay-off case and the SIR process.

BJP State general secretary says the party, the "real Opposition" in Keralam, has been questioning the State government's failures over the past few months

With the Assembly session set to begin on Monday (October 12, 2026), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise protests demanding the resignation of both Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan.

The protest demanding Mr. Vijayan's resignation is over the Kerala High Court's order to register an FIR in the CMRL-Exalogic pay-off case.

"Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that all the State governments that came to power after the SIR are illegal. So, Mr. Satheesan is an illegal Chief Minister. If his participation in the protest was sincere, he should resign from the CM post. On the other hand, does Mr. Vijayan think that he was ousted from power because of SIR?" asked Mr. Suresh.

He said that the SIR was a wide-ranging process with as many as 46 lakh people becoming a part of it. "The SIR process was not carried out just by Gyanesh Kumar. Out of the 46 lakh people, 11 lakh were government employees, while 35 lakh BLAs were from various political parties. Only 9 lakh of these BLAs were from the BJP. They are trying to discredit this system. Was Rathan U. Kelkar, the former Chief Electoral Officer, appointed in the CM's Office as quid pro quo?" asked Mr. Suresh.

He said that the BJP is the "real Opposition," which has been questioning the State government's failures over the past few months. The LDF had no moral or political authority to question the UDF government. The BJP will take out an Assembly march on Monday demanding the resignation of both the Chief Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, he said.
