Ruling party alleges that anarchy is being spread in Delhi under Rahul Gandhi's leadership, claims 'no common citizen or representation of the general public' is part of the protest
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday (October 8, 2026) questioned the conduct of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra with women police personnel during Wednesday's protest against alleged "vote theft" and the actions of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
At a press conference, the BJP showed video clips of alleged incidents, claiming that they exposed the Congress' "frustration and the arrogance of privileged dynastic politics". BJP spokesperson Sidharth Yadav accused Mr. Gandhi of "inappropriately touching" one policewoman and Ms. Vadra of "elbowing" another.

"Rahul Gandhi has said that there are 47 FIRs against him, but wearing an FIR relating to atrocities against a woman as a medal -- only Rahul Gandhi can do this in this country," he said.
"These are pictures of the anarchy being spread in the National Capital under the leadership of the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, and the Congress party. There is no common citizen or representation of the general public in these protests," said Mr. Yadav, claiming that Congress workers had assaulted police personnel. He also alleged that Congress workers had beaten up a young Kashmiri Muslim man in Connaught Place on Thursday.
He claimed that Mr. Gandhi's irritation and frustration were coming to the fore because the country was progressing with a growth rate of over 7%; electricity, water, and roads had reached villages across the country; free healthcare was available; and the country was steadily emerging as a manufacturing hub.
Through his X handle, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said: "Reel-maker Rahul Gandhi pushed female cops, threatened men in uniform. Congress is provoking anarchy! The matter of the Election Commission is in the Supreme Court. Matters in court are not decided on the basis of street mobilisation! Does the Congress not believe in a plea in the Supreme Court?"
"Urban Naxals and their political front, Congress, is desperate to relaunch Rahul Gandhi at the cost of democracy! It's the people of India vs Congress and its goons!" he alleged.
