Bengaluru police registered an FIR after 778 Form-7 applications were filed to remove genuine voters in Malleshwaram. Congress leader Anoop Ayyanga alleged that many voters were falsely marked as shifted. Officials are now investigating these claims, which suggest that people used fake signatures to target specific voters during electoral revisions.

An FIR has been registered in Bengaluru over allegations that 778 Form-7 applications were filed to remove genuine voters from the electoral rolls in Malleshwaram.

The complaint was filed by Congress leader Anoop Ayyanga at Vyalikaval Police Station. Ayyanga alleged that several voters who continue to live at their registered addresses were falsely shown as having shifted permanently or being absent.

The allegations come as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is underway in the area. According to the complaint, the applications were filed across eight polling booths in Ward No. 64 of the Malleshwaram Assembly Constituency.

The complaint said 233 applications were filed in Booth No. 155, 171 in Booth No. 205, 122 in Booth No. 157, 104 in Booth No. 153, 68 in Booth No. 203, 47 in Booth No. 154, 28 in Booth No. 156 and five in Booth No. 158. Together, these add up to 778 applications.

Ayyanga, who contested the 2023 Karnataka Assembly election from Malleshwaram, further alleged that the applications were concentrated in booths representing a particular community. He accused people associated with the BJP and RSS of conspiring to remove eligible voters from the rolls.

These allegations are part of the police complaint and have not been established.

The complaint names G.S. Vasantha Lakshmi, described as a BJP booth-level agent. Ayyanga alleged that a large number of the Form-7 applications were filed in her name.

He also raised questions over signatures appearing on the forms. According to the complaint, signatures attributed to Vasantha Lakshmi appeared different across several applications, raising suspicion that some forms may have been submitted by another person using her name.

The complaint has sought action against those allegedly responsible for submitting false information, creating fake documents and misleading officials in an attempt to remove eligible voters from the electoral rolls.

Police have registered the case and are now investigating the allegations, including the authenticity of the Form-7 applications and the signatures on them.
