Trump's green light for Mecca defence pact: Why India may be watching more than worrying

US President Donald Trump endorsed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement signed on August 7, 2026, by Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan. The pact promises mutual defence and intelligence sharing. Analyst Nirupama Subramanian said, "countries that have traditionally relied on the United States for security are looking to build their own security arrangements."
