NHAI seeks modification of SC order directing it remove strays from highways

The NHAI told the Chief Justice of India on Monday, September 21, 2026, that it cannot remove stray animals from highways. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said local authorities must handle this task. The NHAI noted that following the Supreme Court order would cost them around ₹7,000 crore in total expenses.
