New handles, renamed profiles: How Nepal's relief scams piggyback on tragedy

Scammers are using the August 26 Bhotekoshi floods in Nepal to solicit fake donations on social media. An India Today investigation found many accounts created in August 2026 or renamed to look like relief pages. These profiles used UPI codes and misleading videos to get money from people wanting to help.
